I'm a married woman. I've been married 4.25 years (Boo ya!) and I'm in my early-mid 20s
Lately I'm thinking I am REALLY maybe almost possibly ready to take the parenting plunge for real this time. So I'm trying to get myself physically, mentally, and emotionally committed to the cause (oh and my husband too).
I know many of you visiting are either mothers or future mothers who may have asked yourselves some of the questions I'm asking right now: What should I do now that I may not get to do later? How should I choose a doctor? What medical things should I take care of before I try to get pregnant? What career adjustments should I expect to plan or make to help with the transition into motherhood? Is SAHM a job for me? WAHM? Or should I be a Suga Mama? Will I breastfeed... Wait, what it hurts?!!? WTF is Letdown? Should I have a home birth? Get the epidural? Or try to go for an orgasmic labor? Could Crunchy become my middle name?
You've seen mom blogs, and pregnancy blogs, but this is something a little different... Focusing on that stuff, but before that all happens... A Pre-Pregnancy blog, if you may. I'm forming opinions and ideas of what I hope and THINK I'll do when I get pregnant, or when I become a mother, but it'll be fun to see what I actually end up doing.
Some call my thinking premature, but I call it smart. I know you can never be really READY to change your life forever and become a mother, but I want to get as close as possible. I'm hoping women like you can share your secrets (really, tell me everything, even the nasty stuff they don't tell you beforehand), help me think of other questions, and find the answers as you follow me on my journey toward motherhood.
Oh but watch out... I ask difficult questions and post crazy findings, I don't hold back, I'm only just beginning and I'm loving every second of it!
So look around! A good place to start would be my by visiting my "popular post" section, oh and answer my poll to the right! You can also find me on Twitter: @babymakinmachin
I also have been getting a few giveaway sponsors lately. I have two contests going on right now here and here, and I'm probably going to post my third, and biggest one so far (valued around $100) sometime next week. So stay awhile, or if you're busy visiting other blogs in this awesome blog block party (I know I am), be sure to come again!
This post was brought to you because it was inspired by:

Hey, hey, hey!!!!! Girl, you know we're partying over at MyBrownBaby, too... stop by--Mary J. Blige is giving a concert! Smooches! D.
HI! Good to meet you :) You are so adorable! I'm LDS too.
I got pregnant with my first at 17, so I didn't really get any mental preparation for children... I just jumped in... LOL
That's why I love this blog.
Hi Jenn - do it! You'll never be "ready" for kids but you can try to be as prepared as possible. I am 21 weeks pregnant with my first and my husband and I couldn't be more thrilled. I went through all the questions you are asking yourself and more. There are a few words of wisdom I would share:
1) If you are seriously thinking of getting pregnant, try to go on prenatal vitamins now. You don't need a prescription, over the counter is fine. It can't hurt, if they disagree with you you can stop, and if they don't, you'll have a head start.
2) If you have any female health issues, have them checked out beforehand. You can get a pre-pregnancy checkup with your GYN to address any concers you may have.
3) Go off the pill for at least 2-3 months beforehand. Give your cycle sometime to become "normal" again and regulate itself before you start affirmatively trying.
4)Find out what maternity leave pay would consist of and how much you and hubby need to save to cover the time you are home with baby. In this same vein, find out more about your existing insurance and it's coverage for prenatal care and delivery.
5) Start looking for doctors. Get referrals from friends/family. That is the best way to go.
6)Don't worry about breastfeeding, epidurals or any of that yet. Just get to making that baby! :)
Gosh I could go on and on. As a young mommy-to-be it's exciting to me to hear about your life and your impending baby plans. Good luck!!
Well..First let me say your blog is great..I'll be reading you daily! Second..now this doesn't happen to everyone..but when I first got pregnant..my boobs started to leak at like 8 weeks into my pregnancy..I would have to wake up and change my pajamas at night it was so bad. I had to wear 2 nursing pads on each boob. Daily. Until the baby came. As soon as he was out..I stopped leaking. It was WEIRD!
I'm following your blog now, great post!
Hey Jenn!!! This is definitely an awesome blog and experience. You are definitely doing things the smart way. I'm 28 and have an 11yr old and my husband and I are just about ready to expand our family, so I'm into the research and planning also.
I've decided that I want to be a WAHM, so part of my planning is to start my own business in which I can work from home and dedicate more time to my future bebes.
So, I'd love for you to stop by my blog journey at My Business Adventures - A Mom’s Real-Time Journey Starting a New Business. Let's share this experience and be bloggy buddies!
Cheers,
LeNesha
Stopping by for the party and wanted to say hello. Being a mother of two little ones I have to say, you will NEVER EVER be READY to have kids. You have to go along with the nike moto and "Just Do it"
Wish you the best.
Thank you so much for visiting me. It is a pretty big UBP ’09 but worth the time to find great bloggers!
Have a fun weekend!
Warm Blessings- Crunchy Green Mom
My tips.... I agree with Stephanie.
Just do it...
I got pregnant with my first at 17, I am 35 now and just had my sixth when I was 34.
Everyone of them was different. C-section, 4 VBacs, Two of them natural, the last one was epidural and by far the scariest!....
You are never fully prepared, however, you are a dedicated person in your life, this would be no different!
Good luck.. have fun and when it's time... you will know.
I'm party hopping!
I am an old grandma here and love all my 9 grand-children. They are such a joy to treasure! Party on!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and entering the giveaway! I love your blog - you have a sweet spirit and I hope you find all the answers to your questions. ;) I'm following you on Twitter now too, and you're in my reader.
Hey there, Future Mama! What you'll find - and I'm sure what you've found already - is that women who are trying to conceive and women who have babies of any age from 1 day to 50 years old LOVE to share advice! I have two baby-related blogs - one, called How to Have a Baby chronicles my two+ year journey to have my first child. The other, 0 to Mom, is where you visited me because of 5M4M. I hope you'll come check me out again, because I have .02 on just about everything, and I'll be back to visit and share what thoughts I may have on your future posts! Blog on!
Hi Future Mama,
You have a lovely, witty, blog! I'm here from the UBP - and it is very nice to meet you. I have been married almost 4.5 years as well, and we have two children - 2.5 and 5 months old.

I call your thinking SUPER smart! I love the idea of a baby bucket list. I was able to do a lot before my son was born. I'm thankful, because it made me a person I'm proud of and someone I want my son to look up to. My life experiences will help me raise him the way I want to. Plus, my husband and I had almost 10 years together before we had a baby, so we got to travel, spend a little money on ourselves, establish ourselves professionally and spend lots of "us" time before embarking on the journey that is parenthood.
Great blog!
Hi Jenn,
I cannot wait until you are pregnant! You are just the cutest thing. I have been following you on Twitter.
I am stopping by from The Ultimate Blog Party to check your blog out. What a great week we are in for!

That's a beautiful picture of you. I had my boys when I was 27 and 30. I think there comes a time in your marriage when you feel ready to have a baby. I'd recommend reading some books with which you agree, though it's hard to be totally prepared for parenthood. Life changes after you have a baby.
Dropping in from UBP...(It;s nice to meet you. You should drop by my site during March I am having a Maternity Jamboree, I think it would be right up your alley LOL!
Very interesting. Nice to meet you!
Hmmm... some things people don't actually SAY about being a Mama... well, for the most part I think most things ARE said somewhere. One thing women who've not had children don't realize (at least the ones I've told): you get to have one REALLY long period after you've gone without it for 9 months. Lochia... cleans us out. It's part of the process of the uterus shrinking.
Oh, and breastfeeding DOES hurt the first time... but it's TOTALLY worth those 2-15 (maybe more for some?) days of hell. Seriously! If you don't walk through the valley, you can't climb the mountain. SERIOUSLY! And that's a lot more than just BFing related!!!
Most Mamas won't say that they've had days they actually hated the job. And some wouldn't even admit that the work of Mamaing IS a job... perhaps they are better than me... perhaps they are deluded... I don't know. But there have been days like that for me!
I could go on. I would be happy to answer questions (I have 3 daughters all born naturally, 1 hospital DH didn't think I could do it the first time around, and 2 home births). I'm full of info and am hard to shock. I think I will definitely have to come back and visit you, though!
Just going from party to party to see how others are doing this blogging thing.
good luck on your journey to motherhood, I'm not one yet either but am all about being prepared!
My prize is #115 check it out!
Have a good weekend blog partyn’!
Your blog is great! Thanks for stopping by my party...it's so nice to meet you :O) Enjoy the rest of your weekend and Happy UBP '09
Just do it! Mother Instincts will kick in and you'll do fine! :) Good Luck! Enjoyed your blog.

I was scared when I had Brea! I was all by myself, but I did it. I wouldn't change it for the world now! She is my life. Hope you are having fun at the party. I would also like to invite you to link to Show off your Blog Saturday! I would love to read your favorite post! It not too late feel free to link!
Hello! Poppin’ in from The Ultimate Blog Party…all the way from Queensland, Australia! G’Day! I hope you have time to visit my party soon.
Ta!
Hi Jenn,
I found your link right under mine at the Facebook UBP site. I'm so glad I clicked over! Love your post... and you blog sounds really interesting. As a mom of 2 girls maybe I'll be able to answer a few of your questions! Can't wait to read more.
Oh, and your photo is just gorgeous!
I am new to the blog world.
So glad that I found your blog. I will be back again soon.
Hope you will come by and visit me. This is such a fun party.
Teresa
I really like your blog! Pregnancy kind of sneaked up on me so I never had the chance to get all the info before hand like you! So your really lucky to get 100% ready for the journey!
I am out bopping from party to party with Blog party. it has been fun. I actually have visited your blog before and it is great.
Good luck on your baby making decisions, I am impressed that you are devoting so much time to the whole process, Your baby will be a very lucky little guy or gal.
I know some who just get pregnant then worry about the details or don't worry about them(OCTu mom).
Have a great day!
Interesting blog. I guess I didn't put much thought into whether I was ready for a baby or not. My dh and I knew we really wanted kids, so we didn't wait long. Honestly I don't know if anyone is ever really ready, it is just something that you kind of have to jump into. Then you have 9 months to get ready.
You never feel ready especially if you care to do a good job and I'm impressed at how much though you are putting into it. Life's nutty but fun with kids.
Jessie
What a fun idea for a blog! I always wanted to be a SAHM, so I'm so happy that I am. I dealt with infertility for 2 years, so I've learned that even if you are ready to have a baby, life doesn't always work the way you'd like.
I just stopped by, blog hopping as part of UBP 2009. It is very nice to meet you. I have a blog at www.superfunmama.blogspot.com; It's a toddler learning blog. I'd love to have you for a visit! I am loving UBP! Have a magical day. I have a goal of trying to visit 150 blogs per day, whew! Let's hope the little one takes long naps for the next few days.
What is a Suga mom?
Party hopping.. feeling fine! Booty shakin' all around.. pump that jam.. thats what we're getting at! Ooh yea! Party time!!
Happy UBP 2009!!
Hi there - Just came across your blog from Sits and I can't wait to read more. I'm not a mom and I'm not married, but those things will be happening in the near-ish future, and I'm in a similar point in my life as you, so I can't wait to read about your journey. :)
Hi there,
It's very nice to meet you! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and for the sweet compliment. My husband and I were married 7 years before adopting our daughter. I think it's great to wait and experience life just the two of you before bringing a child on board.

Nice to meet you!
Talk about a party!
I'm quite intrigued and am learning how to get around!
Just stopping by from 5minutes for moms blog party!
Thanks for dropping by my party!! Your blog is too cute and you make me laugh! Motherhood is wonderful, but lots of hard work, but definitely worth it... just jump right in, you can never really be prepared!
Blessings!
HOWDY!! It is nice to meet you! I am coming to you via the Ulitmate Blog Party and I just wanted to say I think your blog is genius. I wish I would have thought of something like this those 8 years we were waiting on having a baby. I have to say, I LOVE being a mommy and I absolutely loved being pregnant. And no matter how much you prepare... it's different than you think it will be. Cause nothing happened the way I planned, but I was FINE and you will be too.
I can't wait to come back again and catch up on reading more. See you soon.

Just popping in from UBP! I have to say, your blog caught my eye. I'll be stopping in later! Have a great week!

hi there, thanks for stopping by my blog. just came to take a peak at yours. looks like you have got a lot of thinking going on over here! i think all your research and soul searching is fantastic. i think you will also find that once you have a little bundle in your belly, and then your arms, your intuition will play a big role in your parenting decisions as well.
all the best on your journey towards motherhood!
Hello. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Isn't the UBP awesome. I do have 4 boys now, but I remember before the boys came along how badly I wanted children and having trying to convince DH. It's pretty interesting (maybe I will blog on it sometime). Good luck and God Bless (my children - next to my DH - are the best things that have ever happened to me). I love every minute of being a mom (o.k. maybe not every minute). But it is the best adventure of my life. Like your blog, keep up the good work.
Hi Future Mama, thanks for visiting my blog and the lovely comment you left. You have a fantastic blog, it's so wonderful that you are putting so much thought into this before you become a mother. I waited nearly 15 years for my little miracle so I had a lot of time to think about motherhood before I became a mother, but I still didn't give enough thought beforehand to some of the practical issues that you are considering now. I think you are going to be an absolutely wonderful mother. I'm following your blog now as I'm excited for you and interested to see how your ideas develop :)
Hi from the blog party! Love your pretty theme. I'd like to invite you over to my blog to enter our pink flip camcorder in the Giveaways and Contests section. Come say Hi :) Hope you are enjoying the party. God bless!
Kudos to you for waiting until you really feel ready to go down that road! I was so convinced having a baby would make me happy and fulfilled that I never took a moment to find out why I didn't already feel that way. I love my son, but it's not always been the easiest road! Feel free to pick my brain any time you like! :o)
Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm a planner, and according to my plan, dh and I were going to wait to have kids for a bit longer - but God changed those plans!
Even though we'd been married for over 2 years and were both in our late 20's, we didn't think we were ready - but is anyone ever ready? Now, I cannot imagine my life being any different.
I am enjoying all these blogs. Yours is one of the best especially your graphics.
Happy blog party! I enjoy very much these blogs especially yours!
your blog is very helpful. I am really having fun looking at all these blogs
I'm glad you stopped by my blog. I hope there is something there to help you in your planning. I will say that it's easier once the kids are in school. The guilt kind of got to me when they were babies. The key is to have balance in your life. When it's time for work, I try to be the best employee ever. When it's time to be a mom, I focus on the kids. And in the rare moments I have to myself, I take care of me and do things I enjoy.
Hello - here on the party route - still trying to meet up with all the blogs - have been to 250+ so far - last day! Lovely to meet your blog!!
I do really enjoy your blog and am going to follow...will also enter the contests.
i'm having a few if you are interested.
lol..contests that is
Thanks for visiting my blog. Your blog is awesome. I'll be back to visit more. My husband and I are thinking of having another child (our first together), and these are questions that I've been asking myself also. My baby is almost 11, so it's like starting from scratch.
I'm looking forward to talking more with you.
Chele
Thanks for stopping by my blog via the party train :) I've spent too much time reading some of your posts - you crack me up!
I've got a kid waking up from a nap so I've only got a few min...but the first thing I can think of (besides taking folic acid even before you start trying) is to keep an open mind about childbirth and your expectations and what you want.
Like epidural - you can go in to it saying you don't want it and write your birth plan that way, but you never know what's going to happen, or how you're going to react until you're actually in that situation. So you can have your birth plan to how you would LIKE for things to happen but just remember births take on a life of their own and things might have to change from what you wanted, and if that happens just be ok with it :)
Just wanted to stop by, say Hi, and thank you for visiting my blog.
Wow orgasmic labor! Interesting...
This has been a great party week!
Thanks for stopping by my blog during the UBP, sorry I haven't had a chance to return the favour until now :o)
I love the idea you had of starting this blog pre-baby. There is definitely a lot of things to think about before getting onto that journey. I love my daughter but I have to admit I wasn't quite ready to have her. Things for my hubby and me went pretty fast. One second I was thinking... okay, maybe we can try and see what happens (thinking in my head that I would have a lot of time - 6 months at least - to settle into things) and suddenly I was in the doctor's office freaking out because it had happened so fast (2 months).
Feel free to pick my brain anytime and visit my blog to see cute pictures/videos :o)
It was very nice to have met you.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I have updated my blog post to introduce my self!
Wow. i have never seen a blog like yours! I have not read a whole lot yet, but the post and comments I did read are kind-of hard foe me to understand! I will be happy to share with you and others, but I will warn, I am VERY Natural and as pro-life as they come! So, with that I will introduce myself!
I am 23, had my 1st baby when I was 19, had 2nd when I was 21! I hope to have as many children as the Good Lord chooses to bless us with! I loves babies and children and believe that they are blessings! The thought of a hospital births scares me! I had both healthy babies, here at home! With the most amazing midwife! Our 2nd baby was a month early! She was very healthy though, as I mentioned! the only thing I regret is that I did not have enough milk (lost to much weight) to feed her enough, so when she was a few months old, had to add supplements along with breastfeeding. She is 17 months old now and still nurses a little! The oldest weaned when she was 18 months. Good age!
I didn't get pregnant with our 1st till after we had been married 8 months! I had times when I wondered if I would ever get pregnant and felt I was not living up to my High-Calling! Thankfully God knows best and is in charge! I am glad I let him write my love story and motherhood story! My husband and I have been married 5 yrs. now! And have never used any form of birth control. I never would.
After we had our first baby, I read "A FULL QUIVER"
http://www.quiverfull.com/resources.php
I highly recommened it to any one planning to get married or already married! Also "BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY" http://rubies.articledirectoree.com/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage/product_id,45/category_id,1/manufacturer_id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,27/

Also here is an article some of your readers might like to read called "Fully Female"

I hope all of this is helpful to you! And the links work!
