Lamaze Mom To Be Gift Set

On my MomTV show earlier this week I talked about my Top 10 Pregnancy Must-Haves! I'm still working on a post-version for my blog, hopefully I'll get it up this week. But one of the things I think every pregnant woman asks and/or thinks about is stretch mark cream!

I've been told using things like coco butter and shea butter help prevent stretch marks, but water intake does too!

I'm very very prone to stretch marks... In fact I think it's almost a lost cause for me, and I expect to get them on my belly. I grew quickly when I was younger and have them on my knees, I have them on my thighs, even my booty... So why should by tummy be lucky?

Now, when I was looking into birthing classes and techniques of course Lamaze was one of the first ones to come up and come to mind... But who knew they also made toys, and mom to be products? I didn't!
The Lamaze organization is dedicated to supporting and promoting healthy birth practices for women. I've loved looking at their site and watching their labor videos, and reading about their healthy birth practices. I have a long way to go before labor, but I'm sure I'll be learning, and sharing, a lot more about them!

They sent me the Mom to Be Gift Set, and it was one of the first "pregnancy" things I got! I've loved using the lotions and belly creams and I have to honestly say... They smell soooo good! I have another shea butter product from another company and the Lamaze one smells so much better! It's such a fun way to pamper myself!

Here's a little more info about what's in it:
A perfect gift for expecting moms, the Mom-to-Be Gift Set contains 2oz. containers of the following hypoallergenic Lamaze Body Care items: Lamaze Belly Butter - exceptional for keeping the skin elastic and stretchy during pregnancy, as well as soothing itchy bellies. Key ingredients include organic and natural cocoa butter, and shea butter.

Lamaze Belly Cream - contains a variety of healing and emulsifying ingredients clinically proven to help minimize the appearance of stretch marks and scarring.

Lamaze Moisturizing Body Cream - a luscious alternative to regular lotion with a thick, creamy feel that leaves skin incredibly moist yet won't leave the skin greasy

Lamaze Cooling Leg and Foot Cream - provides a revitalizing foot and leg massage, cooling and moisturizing with thick, penetrating cream.

Lamaze Sitz Bath Powder - this healing bath powder will foam to a wonderful lather while helping soothe and heal your body after pregnancy.

So... I'm prone to stretch marks but I'm trying to use this religiously, and hoping maybe if I work hard to prevent these I can have one part of my body scar-free!

Like the gift set? You can BUY it for $25 (actually it's on sale right now for $19.99) from Learning Curve. It's a great baby shower gift!

Or you can WIN one here! Here's how to enter:

  1. Let me know if it works for you! I of course have always had stretch marks everywhere (part of Marfan) and during pregnancy mine were deep, like, I can run my finger over the ridges. They have faded fast though. My OB said a lot of stretch marks is genetic and that cream doesn't help and the cream I used didn't, but I also didn't do it religiously nor did I use this brand. If this works for you I'm buying it next time around!!!

Here's my pregnancy tip: Get compression socks when your feet start to swell. Your feet actually get little stretch marks if the swelling is bad, and those don't necessarily go away. The compression socks help, and they help keep you in your shoes too. I think you can get them at Target. :-)

Oh, one other thing I did for my baby was put headphones on my tummy and play classical and soft music to my tummy. I don't know if it affected my baby at all, but I like to think she could hear it and enjoyed listening to it!

I had soooo many interventions that I was unhappy with during my first baby's birth. In my defense, I had no clue what was up or down. But I'm educating myself more now and will take better steps towards preventing everything bad that happened on the first go around! Here's to happy, healthy, intervention-free births in 2010!!! 46. My favorite of the 6 Lamaze Healthy Birth Practices is "Let Labor Should Begin on Its Own." Some babies need a little more time to cook, even though many new moms get nervous that the little one will never leave the womb! For my first, I had to be induced with pitocin (water broke, no contractions) and it awful! Why anyone would voluntarily choose to be induced is beyond me!
