365 Love Letters Week 10

My iPhone photos are long gone. The good news is my photos are getting better. I've been getting a lot of questions about how I edit these. I use Photoshop, but you can add text to photos using many tools like Paint, or an online program called Picnik. The pro version is about $25 a year I believe. I use the free version when I'm not using photoshop.

This week I got back to the vision I had for these. A mixture of photos of my daughter and other random things I take photos of during the day. I'm trying not to get too cliche with my advice and give it all from the heart, and incorporating things from the day versus being general Day 69 is a good example of what I mean.

I also started creating a Blurb book to print these all in at the end of the year. It's going to be a pricey project but I think it'll be so worth it to have a hard-back version for me her. I may even see if there's a place I can get one of those 365 desk calendars printed with these on it to have next year. We'll see!

If you have any ideas of advice or photos for Lil' J, please share! I'll totally link you if I adapt your idea!

My favorite one this week was Day 71. My husband cooperated and let me take a photo of our hands for my photo today (he was tricked into the last photo). In a world that defines so many people by how they look or seem on the outside, I think that advice is pretty important.
I may go back to posting these on my facebook page daily this week. It gives me something fun to look forward to before bed. But it also keeps me up late, so we'll see.

  1. Oh wow. Can't believe Snoop didn't eat Sophie #1. There was just so much evidence against him. Oh well, the good news is that you'll always have a back up.

  2. I heart Day 71, because I too believe that colour doesn't define a person :).

Could you please tell me how you edit your photo to this lovely size?

  5. Two phrases have gotten me though rough patches in life. One was from my grandmother: "This too shall pass." Everything in life is temporary. It may be hard to remember when going through a bad time, but it's true.

The other is a line I found scribbled the wall of my sister's room. It was originally a spare room built onto the garage and my dad let us paint the walls or do whatever in there. Apparently my sister had taken to writing random things on the wall as a teenager. The one that stuck out to me was "Take things as they come."

Both phrases have helped me immensely to keep things in perspective over the years. Back when I worked in retail, I'd write one or both on a sticky and post it above my register or work area just to help keep me focused. Nothing lasts forever and the best you can do is take things as they come.

  6. Hey. I Came Across Baby Making Machine about a week ago, and; the photos (oh the photos!) are marvelous, and the general vibe of your blog is so welcoming, and rich, I come back every day. Thank you for the reccomendations on the programs to modify pictures and the pretty Cheeky Lime bag; I have a Canon Rebel XS that I'm getting into repair (problem with the flash shutter)and I'm itching to use it on my week old niece.

  8. I just love your blog. Lil J is a doll and I've loved watching her grow through all of your pictures. I've been trying to get motivated to do a 365 project, except I really don't like my camera. Hopefully I can upgrade soon!

  9. There is a quote from President Uctdorf that I absolutely love. It says, "Be strong and of good courage for you are truly spirit daughters of Almighty God. You are princesses destined to become queens. Your own wondrous story has already begun. Your once upon a time is now." It's kind of long for one of your 365s, but thought it was worth sharing since you liked the princess theme when Lil J was born.
