If SHE can wear skinny jeans...

I was never a fan of skinny jeans. They just looked so tight and restricting. I've always been one to enjoy a pair of boot legs, or flairs. Lately the more I see them on people (mostly the women) the more I wish I could wear them.

They look so skinny.

I saw some skinny jeans (or jeggings, whichever you want to call them) for babies for $3 at Walmart and bought them in every color her size.
Walmart Jeggings: $3.50; Hair Bow c/o Mother Goose Collections
Even with her thunder thighs she looks so adorable in them. They're--dare I say--Flattering?

My eight month old has inspired me once again. I'm making a mini goal to get a pair for myself. My first pair of skinny jeans. I've never even tried them on! I've been too scared. But now I want to find the perfect pair. Preferably some that don't expose my pudgy postpartum stomach, give me a muffin top or a flat booty, and that don't cost $100.
Express
Express is usually my go-to place for jeans so I guess I'll start there. Though I'll probably cry because the last time I bought clothes there I was at least two sizes smaller.

If anything, even if I don't look it, maybe they'll at least make me FEEL skinny. Even if they are size... Well, we won't go there.

  1. Love the hair bow! Do you think you could do DIY or "What I'm Making Monday" post on how to make them? I've followed along with the tutu making and flower headband making. I would really like to learn how to make a different kind of bow. I love it when people ask where I get my daughters bows and I can proudly say, "I made it!"

  3. Jennifer, I don't usually comment, but had to on this one. I actually found the perfect skinny jeans at Old Navy. I was shopping there for cheap jeans to wear for a couple months before I lost all my baby weight. I fell in love with their Sweetheart Skinny Jeans. They are mid-rise and help to hide my tummy pouch, and they are only $30. Now that I am back to my pre-baby size, I went back and bought a couple more pair. They flattered me when I was at a size 10 and still now that I am back in my 6's. I prefer these over my pricey jeans! Beware the jeans that you put up in the post, those are ultra low rise and will probably "expose your pudgy postpartum stomach" (which is most likely noticeable only to you!)

  4. I die for jeans!

In December I both three pairs of Lewis and I adore the way they fit. Two of them have bold fit - skinny leg but good fit around the butt - because I am bootylicious. And the I chose my favourite 501 straight leg. I hope you find your fit, Eagle then to be good too - price and quality :).

I was petrified to try some on, but with some coaxing of the hubby, I bought them and LOVE them, expecially paired with boots or sandals. they make me feel not so momlike all the time :) I would recommend stretch ones, I got a pair at forever21, theyre cheap and oh so cute. good luck with your search and lil j looks SO cute!

  7. I vote yes on the skinny jeans! I got a pair of maternity 'straight leg' but they were anything but! I still felt frumpy. So I got a pair of skinny maternity ones and I'm wearing the heck out of them.

Now remember what I said about quality over quantity - you can drop some coin on ONE good pair of skinny jeans and if they're a darker wash, you can wear them EVERYWHERE with EVERYTHING. Jeans are a staple item - you can build an entire wardrobe around them and you want them to stand the test of time. Plus, a $3 t-shirt looks fabulous with a $100 pair of jeans but that's pretty much never the case the other way around. Expensive tops either look cheap or just don't look right with cheap jeans.

Spend some money on jeans - it can be just one pair and I promise you won't regret it.

  8. I am a huge fan of skinny jeans. I was also into boot leg jeans but they look too baggy now. I also have an eight month old and have lost the weight so I'm skinnier than before I had the baby. Weird I know but I think it has to do with nursing and not eating so many frozen meals and fast food. Anyway, thanks for sharing. Love your blog.

  10. For price, quality and easy fit; you definitely cannot go wrong with Express or Calvin Klein jeans from Macys or their brand outlet.

  12. Express is great but unless they have come down on their jean prices since the last time I worked there, you might be spending close to $100. I would say try Target, Old Navy and even Walmart has some great skinny jeans. WalMart now carries Miss Tina by Tina Knowles, Beyonce's mom. And she has a lovely pair skinny jeans!

With the darting you won't have to worry about muffin top or flat booty syndrome. LOL

  13. I will be honest, I am a plus size gal {like size 26 plus size...nope, I am not embarrassed to say that!} and I wear skinny jeans!! I shop for my jeans at The Avenue {any kind} and at JC Penny's {for A.N.A jeans}. I used to think that boot cut and flared leg jeans suited my body shape better then straight leg and skinny jeans. I really didn't think I could pull off the skinny "look". But my mom bought me a pair for Christmas and I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I tried them on...lo and behold I LOVED them...and so did my fiancée. He has not "allowed" me to get another pair of my old style jeans since! I think you should take that leap and try a couple pairs on and see what you think. If you can stash a pair of flats in your diaper bag the next time your shopping so you can see how they look with the shoes you are wearing and the flats. I think that you will be surprised at just how flattering they can be for any shape. Also make sure you try on a couple different washes too. I found that even though I like the lighter washes, the darker ones look better.

  14. I like the thought and look of skinny jeans, but I can't wear them. I tried them once, but it drove me crazy. When I wear pants, I like them to be boot cut or flare so they cover my shoes. If they don't cover my shoes it just feels weird.

  15. Those do look "flattering" on her. Too cute. Girl, go get yourself a pair of skinny jeans. I'm sure you'll look great in them. I know you wear flats so they would go well with flats too. BTW I love Express jeans too.

  16. LOVE Old Navy's skinny jeans! They are super affordable and have that perfect amount of stretch.

  17. Love the $3 deal. YAY!!! They are SUPER cute on her. The bow is darling!

  18. I got some 'stretch' skinny jeans and they are my favorite things to wear!

  19. Oh my goodness... lil J's skinnies are too cute!! Great deal, too -- woohoo!
You know, I don't own skinny jeans. I tried on a pair once, and although my mom & sister said they looked great - to me, they are just the reincarnation of tapered-leg jeans. But! I found the perfect alternative: straight-leg jeans (I got them on ae.com) -- they are slim, but not tapered. I LOVE them.

  20. Totally feel you! I don't like skinny jeans but DH has been trying to get me to wear them for years. Finally found some at Old Navy that we both agree on: Rockstar cut. Give em a try! The key is finding the right amount of stretch =)

  21. Joanna from "A Cup of Jo" said that the GAP skinny jean was the perfect pair of jeans for post partum. Maybe I'll have to check them out since nothing else is looking good on me these days. My body is so weird now.

  22. I second whoever it was that said to try the Sweetheart style from Old Navy. I haven't had any children yet, but I carry my weight in my stomach and waist naturally. These jeans have a higher rise but still flatter the booty. I love them.
