I don't have the best voice but I sing to her anyway and I think she likes it. I mostly sing a lot of church primary songs to her. I'm working on some labor playlists as well as a "Just Meeting" playlist. So far there's only 17 songs on that one but by far my favorite one is probably "Capri" by Colbie Caillat. One of my best friends played it for me once and said she listened to it when she was pregnant with her little girl and I went home and got it!
It's about a mother's love for her growing baby in her belly. I love singing this song to her and I hope she'll remember be singing this to her when she's out on the other side.

ReplyDeleteMy mom gave me a CD of Martina McBride's song In My Daughter's Eyes when I was pregnant with my daughter. I sang it to my belly, and when I sang it to her when she arrived, it used to soothe her (during her non-colic related cries). I still sing it to her.
ReplyDeleteThat is so beautiful to have a song that will be "our song" for you and your daughter. I already know what will be "our song" if I have a girl. I walked down the aisle to my husband to Babyface's 'You are so Beautiful' and that would be my song to my daughter. Who knows, at her wedding, she might dance with her daddy to that song.

One day, I was sitting on the couch holding her, watching MTV. The video came on and I started listening to the words. I know it's a love song, but it still applied to the way I was feeling at the time. Every time I hear it, I think of my sweet daughter. "No one can get in the way of what I feel for (her)."
ReplyDeleteMy song for Carson is Eva Cassidy's arrangement of "At Last." I sang it at my sister's wedding when I was about 6 months pregnant. When I finally pushed him out, that was the song I immediately thought of. "I found a thrill to rest my cheek to, a thrill that I had never known."

Isn't it exciting that soon you'll be meeting Lil J in a matter of weeks? Can't believe that time has flown by so quick. And yes she will remember the song. Moo remembered John Legend from hearing me listen to it so much. He puts her right to sleep!!

When my son was first born and would cry I wanted to sing to him but I couldn't remember the words to any song but Jesus, lover of my soul and now any time I sing that song to him it comforts him :D But I can't sing very well at all!!
