Naughty 'N Nice Gift Wrapping: {Almost} Wordless Wednesday

My husband hates shopping for Christmas gifts and I hate wrapping them. No, I despise wrapping presents. I'm a recycled-gift bag kind of girl. So when it came time to get the deed done this year I tried to put a smile on my face and make them good.

We have a family tradition to buy each other gifts from the dollar store each year (including gifts to/from Lil' J and Snoop), so that ups the quantity of presents to wrap. When I was done I couldn't help but notice the disparity in my efforts.

Here's how my wrapping started.
These are presents for my husband. Some weren't square-shaped so I grabbed boxes to put them in and wrapped them neatly. It's not perfect by any means but nice for me.

After about five gifts, the cutting, folding and taping became too much and I resorted to tearing, crumbling and sticking.

And this is how they ended.

To my credit I figured it would be easier for Snoop and Lil' J to open this way.

Merry Christmas!

  1. I LOVE wrapping presents but I have this totally artistic idea of how the tree and presents should look and it never turns out that way. :-/

  3. Hey, its all going to be torn to shreds anyway, right? So its not a big deal if its not all nice and neat. The end result is all the same, so no worries mama! Love your blog. Makes me look forward to motherhood. Happy holidays to you and your beautiful family!!!

  4. LOL! What a fun post.

I don't mind wrapping but finding the right gift for a person is soooo difficult. The pound shop ia awesome idea because in this case even those who can't afford can still give you something thoughtful.

    Merry, merry Christmas!

  5. Smart idea: putting things in boxes is a great tip that I've seen done on more than one occasion by "professional" wrappers. Merry Christmas!

  6. I am with you. I loathe wrapping presents. Especially open faced toys. I mean..REALLY? REALLY!!?? Those things tick me off more than anything I have to wrap. Why can't it just be one closed box? Why does it have to be open?!

  8. LOL. Yes, I felt a little overwhelmed wrapping all of Moos gifts this year. I was tempted to not wrap them at all but just to spread them out on the couch once she'd fall asleep. However, I remember how much fun she had ripping off the wrapping last year and pushed myself to just get it over with. Then I had to wrap gifts for my family.

Thankfully, for the three remaining gifts I have to pick up they're going to be gift cards and will come in their own cute little envelope. No wrapping or taping required. And shopping at the dollar stores is a great idea. You won't believe how much cheaper you can get a Barbie from Family Dollar than WalMart.

  9. I find that I suck when I start but as I get going I get into the groove and my wrapping skills improve. I STILL have to wrap everything.

    Ugh...maybe I'll do some tonight

  10. I would have assumed you were an expert wrapper. I love this though. Mine are decent, but not great. By the end, like you, I start to not care at all.
